Weekend project: Jump to Header

Some time ago, I came across the browser “Nyxt“. I found one feature particularly practical, namely the option of displaying the headings (<H1> to <H6>) in a side panel.

Chrome also contains a side panel for some time now. The above feature could be displayed in this. A quick search in the Webstore revealed that there is no corresponding extension. It shouldn’t be difficult to recreate something like this.

In the end, it was a little more difficult than expected, but still feasible. The result is the “Jump to Heading” extension, An early version of is available on Github.

At the moment the extension still has to be installed via “Load unpacked”, as it has access all to URLs. With this setting the review at Google always takes a little longer (and they usually have something else to complain about).

Download: Jump to heading v0.1

Update: The extension is now available in the web store.
